Duchess School along Duchess Avenue before 1963

Description

This is side view of the single-storey old Duchess School along Duchess Avenue, off Duchess Road. A new four-storey block was built and officially declared open by Mr. Mohd. Ariff bin Suradi, Member of Legislative Assembly for Ulu Pandan, on 18 September 1963. The school was closed down in December 1984. Past principals of the school include Mr. Paul, Mrs. J. Wishart, Mrs. Ahin, Mrs. Doraisingham, Mr. Seow Futt Seong, Mr. Solomon, Mr. Jesudason (1961), Miss Lim Bong Soo (1962), Mr. Thong Kah Woh (Jan 70), Mr. Md. Aid bin Haji Mustaffa (June 71), Mr. Hassan bin Salam (Dec 76) and Mr. R. de Souza (Apr 78). Title devised by Library staff.
