Description

The music score with lyrics of the school song of Chong Shan Primary School, with lyrics written by Goh Min Hiong and music by Mr. John de Souza. The school started functioning in Ang Mo Kio Secondary School at Ang Mo Kio Street 22 before moving to the new premises at 3, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10 in January 1982. The school was declared open by Mr. S. Chandra Das, Member of Parliament for Chong Boon, on 12 September 1984. In January 2001, it merged with Townsville Primary School to form the new Townsville Primary School (established in 1983), and functioning at the new school built on the former site of Chong De Primary School (opened in 1982, closed in Dec 1998). The new premises was declared open by Deputy Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, on 12 July 2002. Past principal of Chong Shan Primary School includes Mr. Leong Eng Foon (Dec 1981-1992). Past principals of Townsville Primary School are Mr. Tan Bee Yong (Dec 1982-Dec 1983); Mrs. Daisy Tay (Mar 1984-May 1989); Miss Teo Lian Geok (May 1989-Dec 1995); Mr. Tan Yan Song (Dec 1995-Dec 2000); Miss Chiang Wai Leng (Dec 2000-Dec 2007); and Me. Eugene Ong Kai Tiong (Dec 2007-to date).
