Abstract:
Recorded in this video is an interview with Singaporean artist and sculptor, Wee Beng Chong, the first recipient of the Cultural Medallion for Art in 1979. Wee served as head of the Fine Art Department in NAFA from 1982 to 1989 and co-founded the Modern Art Society in Singapore. In the video, the artist discusses his initial reaction on winning the award, his artistic career, his works with different types of medium, his students, as well as his aspirations. Narration in English and interview conducted in Mandarin with English subtitles.
