Interview with Abdul Ghani bin Abdul Hamid, Cultural Medallion Recipient (1999) for Literature. The first half of the interview highlights the CMR’s early years, as a poet while a schoolboy, and managing his aspirations as a poet while being gainfully employed in the Singapore Civil Service. He then briefly narrates the influence of his poetry on his art and vice versa. This is followed by a discussion of the common themes and metaphors that appear in his poetry, a discussion of his works in prose, and about his poems written in English. The video concludes with a reading of excerpts from the poem Seni Sejagat Kita, representing CMR’s views on the Eastern Art and its place in the art world in general. In Malay, with English subtitles.
