Description

This is a close-up of Mr. Tan Sia Kuang (陈锡光), a prominent Teochew businessman and one of the founding Directors and the first Chairman of Overseas Union Bank (1949). He was Chairman of Tai Tong Rubber Works. His eldest son, Mr. Tan Puay Hee, was Deputy Chairman of Rubber Trade Association of Singapore (1954); and Director of Overseas Union Bank (1957-2000). Siak Kuang's brother, Mr. Tan Siak Kew (陈锡九), was Vice-President (1950-1952) and later President of the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce (1952-1954, 1956-1958); and the first ambassador to Thailand (1966-1967).
