This is a travel account of the voyage made by John Hvighen van Linschoten to the Portuguese East Indies in 1596. The book consists of four parts or “treatises” : the first part describes the voyage by sea in the Indies together with the encounters that the crew had. The second part depicts the journey to Guinea, Manicongo, Angola and Monomotapa. The third part describes the East Indies and the final portion summarizes the commercial aspects of the journey that includes the rents, taxes and tolls.
