This article describes the difficulties of making comparisons of the languages of the countries in the Indian Archipelago and the method used to provide a common system of classification of vocabularies and the pronunciations of words. Includes a classification scheme for physics, natural history, man, arts and society and tables of vowel sounds and consonants.
