This photograph shows three young ladies posing at the entrance of a house owned by Dr. Wu Lien-teh, a Penang-born physician. Two of the ladies are dressed in traditional Chinese costumes while the one in the middle is in Western attire. A signboard bearing Dr. Wu's Chinese name prominently is placed on top of the door. Dr. Wu's English name is printed below the Chinese name. This house at Rangoon Road, Penang, is maintained by Dr. Wu's third aunt. This was taken in 1936.
