This 1982 photograph shows Geylang Road, from Guillemard Road (north side). It shows a view of a street lined with shophouses and roadside parking lots. A man and his goods-laden trishaw can be seen traversing the road. Geylang is believed to be a corruption of the term "kilang", Malay for factory, from the coconut and lemongrass processing factories of the area. Title devised by Library staff.
