This 1982 photograph shows Orchard Road (west side between Cavenagh Road and Oxley Road). It shows a view of a street with shophouses on the right. Further along the road is a low-rise building with many advertising boards. Orchard Road supposedly got its name from the orchards and plantations that existed in the area until the turn of the 20th century. It is now a major tourist and shopping belt.
