"THANK YOU NUHEROES. Singapore reported its first confirmed case of COVID-19 on 23 January 2020. In response, the National University Hospital (NUH) ramped up its efforts to support our nation’s battle against COVID-19. In addition to ensuring the hospital continues running smoothly while responding to the rapidly developing global situation, over 500 staff from NUH went above and beyond by stepping forward to volunteer to care for migrant workers at the dormitories and a community care facility. TUAS SOUTH COMMUNITY CARE FACILITY Set-up at a repurposed factory site in Tuas South, #TeamNUH received our first COVID-19 patient at the Community Care Facility (CCF) on 16 May 2020. It was set up as part of the national effort to house migrant workers who tested positive for COVID-19, present with mild symptoms and at low risk of needing acute hospital care. #TeamNUH was stationed at the CCF 24/7 to provide medical care and support for the migrant workers. Among the initiatives and processes rolled out, the residents were taught to monitor their own vital signs, achieving 100% compliance in this version of telemedicine, enabling the team to detect early signs of worsening illness."--Contributed by National University Hospital, as part of the "Documenting COVID-19 in Singapore" collection community call.
