Hiap Chuan Joo was one of the largest sawmill factories in Singapore. Located at Balestier it produced wooden crates used for beverages including Coca-Cola and Tiger Beer. Taken in the 1950s this photograph shows the main building of the sawmill factory. Workers are seen drying timber planks on the roof. Title devised by Library staff.
