This 1992 photograph depicts shophouses at Holland Village at Holland Avenue. Holland Village was once an exclusive European expatriate centre for the rich, particularly during the British military presence. Today, the village with public and private housing estates and its distinctive 'Enterolobium Saman', tall large shady raintrees with monkey pods and crimson or pink flowers, remains as a popular entertainment hangout for both 'yuppies' and expatriates.
