This 1966 photograph shows the exterior of a shophouse, together with its swinging doors in Malacca. These swinging doors (pintu pagar) are a typical feature of Peranakan houses, allowing in breezes while maintaining privacy. Two casement windows, with security iron bars can be seen. Black lacquered gilded Chinese plaques and couplets decorate the terrace house front. Title devised by Library staff.
