This is a 1995 photograph showing a tree-lined Tanglin Road (from Jervois Road). Tanglin Road was named after the house of William Napier (called Tang Leng), located in this area. Tanglin means east hill peaks in Chinese, a reference to the numerous hills found in the area in the 1840s. Title devised by Library staff.
