Hiap Chuan Joo was one of the largest sawmill factories in Singapore. Located at Balestier it produced wooden crates used for beverages including Coca-Cola and Tiger Beer. This photograph shows a view of the main factory building and its surroundings. A few cars are parked in the foreground. Some buildings and tall coconut trees can be seen in the background.
