This 1968 photograph depicts some decorative mosaic tiles featuring tiles of repetitive pattern. These can be seen on an elevation facing a Telok Ayer Street temple. These tiles (often from Staffordshire kilns) were once commonly used in Peranakan-styled houses and were mass produced by dust pressing, in which powdered clay was pressed into a mould with great force.
