This 1992 photograph depicts a double-storey shophouse building at Geylang Lorong 19 (at southwest corner of Geylang Road junction). The shophouse styled building features casement windows with louvred timber shutters and small rectangular vents with arcaded walkways. Geylang is believed to be corruption of the term “kilang”, Malay for factory, from the coconut and lemongrass processing factories of the area. Title devised by Library staff.
