Kallang Road shophouses : general view [1]

This 1982 photograph showsa row of two-storey shophouses along Kallang Road, next to the United Overseas Bank Kallang Godown. The name Kallang may have been derived from 1) galang, Malay for putting a boat on wooden rollers, 2) a corruption of kilang, Malay for factory, or 3) a tribe of Orang Laut (sea people). Title devised by Library staff.
