Partially constructed Asia Insurance Building, 1950s : exterior

This photograph shows the partially completed Asia Insurance Building, with its location at the junction of Raffles Quay and Finlayson Green. The building was designed by one of Singapore's pioneer architects, Ng Keng Siang. The stepped roof with its concrete crown at the apex constitutes one of the distinctive features of the building's façade. The building has been renamed as Ascott Singapore Raffles Place as part of its redevelopment to serviced apartments by the Ascott Group, a division of CapitaLand. Title devised by Library staff. Date of creation estimated.
