Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple, 1980s



This photograph shows Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple (观音堂佛祖庙), located at 178 Waterloo Street. Seen here is the entrance, which comprises a large central gateway flanked by two smaller gates on either side. Throngs of devotees can be seen entering the temple. There are some street vendors along the gate wall, selling their wares at makeshift stalls set up under big umbrellas. Next to the temple is South East Asia Hotel (partial view, right).
