This 1967 photograph shows a close-up view of a built-in cabinet in a house on Stanley Street, a feature found in well-to-do households. Seen above it is a scroll plaque inscribed with the Chinese characters '蘭言', a poetic phrase which translates literally into "the language of orchids". Title devised by Library staff.
