This 1983 photograph shows New Bridge Road, from near Merchant Road (towards Coleman Street). It shows a view of a street with shophouses along both sides. In the right background can be seen the Chung Khiaw Bank Limited building. Built in 1842, New Bridge Road was named after Coleman's New Bridge which was constructed over the Singapore River in 1840. Title devised by Library staff.
