This 2003 photograph shows a night view of City Hall, with Raffles City Tower in the background. The lighting highlights many features of the building, such as the Corinthian columns and other decorative details. The City Hall building is architecturally noteworthy for its Corinthian columns. Historically, it was the site of the Japanese surrender in 1945 and declaration of Singapore's independence in 1965. City Hall was gazetted as a national monument on 14 February 1992.
