Water has been a source of inspiration to Chng – the River Thames while she studied in London, and the Humber River when she was in Hull. Encouraged by renowned printmaker M Lasansky, her professor at the University of Iowa, the Iowa River became Chng’s exclusive subject during her stay there in 1983-1985. Chng depicted the river in different seasons and in media such as charcoal, pencil, pastel, ink wash and crayon. This work is part of the Singapore Art Museum Collection. Physical dimensions of original: 245mm x 610mm.
