This is a photograph of a red joss paper container cum burner, placed on a road pavement. Such containers are used to contain the ashes of joss paper commonly burnt during the seventh month of the Chinese calendar or the 'Hungry ghosts month'. At other times of the year, the burning of joss paper is also a customary practice amongst some Chinese. Title devised by Library staff.
