This 1983 photograph shows North Boat Quay (from South Boat Quay, near Ellenborough Market). There are shophouses along the bank of the Singapore River and bumboats are docked at the quay. The road along the quay, which is also named North Boat Quay, has been turned into a pedestrian mall with the restoration and redevelopment of Clarke Quay in the 1990s.
