This 1982 photograph shows a row of two- and three-storey shophouses along Tanjong Pagar Road, opposite of Cook Street. Various vehicles can be seen parked by the side of the road. Tanjong Pagar means "cape of stakes" in Malay, and the road is probably named for the kelongs found in the sea near the area. Title devised by Library staff.
