Orchard Road, between Cavenagh Road and Oxley Road : general view [1]

This 1982 photograph shows Orchard Road (west side between Cavenagh Road and Oxley Road). It shows a view of a street with two-storey shophouses on the left, with Hotel Phoenix to the right. Orchard Road supposedly got its name from the orchards and plantations that existed in the area until the turn of the 20th century. It is now a major tourist and shopping belt. Title devised by Library staff.
