This 1993 photograph shows Geylang Road (at Joo Chiat Road junction). Rows of low-rise buildings line one side of the road. In the background can be seen a partial view of high-rise blocks of flats. Geylang is believed to be a corruption of the Malay word "kilang", which means factory. Title devised by Library staff.
