Group photograph of workers of Hiap Chuan Joo sawmill, 1953 [1]

Hiap Chuan Joo was one of the largest sawmill factories in Singapore. Located at Balestier it produced wooden crates used for beverages including Coca-Cola and Tiger Beer. Taken in 1953 this is a group photograph of its workers at its annual Hungry Ghost Festival event held during the seventh lunar month. Title devised by Library staff.
