This 1983 photograph shows Chin Chew Street, midway between South Bridge Road and China Street (south-side). Rows of shophouses, some with laundry on poles hanging out of the windows, can be seen on the left of the photograph. Several vehicles, including bicycles, a car, and trucks, are parked on the road in front of the shophouses. On 18 January 1997, Chin Chew Street became part of the China Square Conservation Area.
