This 1969 photograph shows a jian nian (technique where colourful ceramic pieces are cut and pasted to form decorative patterns or motifs) frieze atop a Chinese-style roof canopy, It sports a jian nian phoenix, where pieces of colourful ceramic are cut and pasted together. The frieze is featured on the Wee family (descendants of 19th century shipping tycoon Wee Bin) residence, which has since been converted into the Tan Cheng Lock Baba House Museum. Title devised by Library staff.
