Joo Chiat Road, at Fowlie Road : general view [3]

This is a 1984 photograph which depicts Joo Chiat Road at the Fowlie Road corner. It shows a view of the road lined with two-storey shophouses. Vehicles are parked in the parking lots provided along the road. One of the shops at the right hand corner of the photograph which is featured has the name, "Nam Hiang Wee" and the logos of two brands of drinks, Pepsi and Miranda on either side of the sign placed across the front of the shop. The name of the shop is also given in Chinese. The building is supported by concrete columns and pilasters. Joo Chiat Road is named after Chew Joo Chiat, a well-known Chinese landowner and coconut plantation owner. Title devised by Library staff.It shows a road lined with two-storey shophouses.
