This 1982 photograph shows Syed Alwi Road, at Jalan Besar corner. Syed Alwi Road was earlier known as Syed Allie Road, named after Arab merchant Syed Allie Bin Mohamed Al Junied. He is the nephew of Syed Omar bin Ali Aljunied who was one of the early pioneers of modern Singapore. The road mentioned is near the Little India area. Title devised by Library staff.
