This 1982 photograph shows godowns at Jiak Kim Street, as viewed from across the Singapore River at Robertson Quay. Jiak Kim Street is named after Tan Jiak Kim (1859 - 1917), an influential Chinese businessman, who served on several government commissions and was a Municipal Commissioner, a member of both the Legislative Council and Chinese Advisory Board and a Justice of Peace.
