This 1890s photograph shows the interior of the Eastern Extension & Australia Telegraph Company relay station at Banjoewangi, East Java (now Banyuwangi). Two European employees are working at their desks. Three mirror galvanometers can be seen. Two of the galvanometers have glass and wood covers, which can be raised to the ceiling when in use.
