Upper Serangoon Road, from Punggol Road : general view

This 1982 photograph depicts Upper Serangoon Road (eastwards from Punggol Road). It shows a view of a tree-lined street with a large billboard on the left. Punggol, also spelt Ponggol, means "hurling sticks - a method of bringing down fruits off fruit trees - in Malay. This indicates that Ponggol was a renowned fruit-growing district. Title devised by library staff.
