I Light Marina Bay, Lumenocity Singapore : general view

This 2010 photograph shows a lighting sculpture titled "Lumenocity Singapore" by Sascha Crocker and Andrew Daly (Australia). It is an abstracted energy consumption map of the Singapore Central Business District (CBD). The colour of the lanterns making up the miniature city correlate to the amount of energy consumed and light pollution emitted, by a particular city block. As visitors approach and wander through the luminous city, a gentle hum surrounds and intensifies. The 'hum' of the lanterns build to a chorus and for those standing amidst the installation, will be a counterpoint to the delicate appearance of the miniature CBD, a salient reminder of the price of the city's luminous beauty. Title devised by Library staff.
