Hiap Chuan Joo was one of the largest sawmill factories in Singapore. Located at Balestier it produced wooden crates used for beverages including Coca-Cola and Tiger Beer. Taken in the 1950s this photograph shows five workers with a lorry used for transporting crates. One worker is standing on the lorry while two are at the back of the vehicle. The remaining two workers are at a stack of crates Title devised by Library staff.
