This 1982 photograph shows Lorong 39 Geylang, at Geylang Road corner. It shows a view of a street with two-storey shophouses on both sides, and roadside parking lots. Geylang is believed to be a corruption of the term "kilang", Malay for factory, from the coconut and lemongrass processing factories of the area. Title devised by Library staff.
