This is a 1982 photograph of the exterior of 2 shophouses located at Spottiswoode Park Road. Spottiswoode Park Road, which is near the Tanjong Pagar area, is probably named after one of the partners of Spottiswoode & Co. They were William, Charles and Archibald Spottiswoode. One of the shophouse is 2 storey high, while the other is 3 storey, with recessed entrances. These buildings seem to belong to the Early Shophouse style, with 2 or 3 French wooden windows on the upper floors. A truck is parked in front of one of the shophouses. Two women can be seen in front of one of the shophouse and seem to be tidying, up as a dustpan can be seen outside the shophouse. A sheet of cloth is also stretched out on a frame off the doorway of the shop. Title devised by Library staff.
