Four female workers at Hiap Chuan Joo sawmill



Hiap Chuan Joo was one of the largest sawmill factories in Singapore. Located at Balestier, it produced wooden crates used for beverages including Coca-Cola and Tiger Beer. Taken in the 1950s this photograph shows four female workers at the factory. High stacks of planks are seen in the background. Title devised by Library staff.
