This 1968 photograph shows the reception hall of the house, furnished with furniture that exhibit a mix of Chinese and Western elements. Botan House was built by Tan Kim Tian, Peranakan founder of a local shipping company in the 1800s. Date of creation estimated. Title devised by Library staff.
