This photographs shows a street and side view of the Ocean Building which is under construction along Collyer Quay, taken from an elevated angle. The view shows the convex shape of the building's facade. Steel piles and scaffoldings as well as a crane can be seen on the topmost level of the building. At street level, the construction site is cordoned off from the traffic, with signboards pasted on one section of the barrier. The rear of the site which is facing Raffles Place is heaped with construction materials, and it is also shielded by high barriers that separate it from the Mercantile Bank Chambers building opposite. The foundation stone of this new Ocean Building was laid on 26 March 1972 and it was completed in 1974. When completed, the building can be accessed either from Raffles Place or Collyer Quay.
