This 1993 photograph shows Tanjong Katong Road (from opposite Poole Road, northwards). There are shophouses and a petrol station along the road. Tanjong Katong is Malay for turtle point. Katong is the name of a species of sea turtles now extinct. The name can also mean the rippling effect of a mirage across the shoreline. Title devised by Library staff.
