This is a photograph of a remote fishing village in Tuas jetty. In the background is a fisherman's house. It was usual to find wooden stilt houses in kampongs built near the sea. In most rural areas, fire-prone houses were made from basic wooden planks, and attap or zinc roofs. Photograph donated by Tan Marilyn and displayed at the Heritage Roadshow 2008. HRS3_495. Title devised by Library staff.
