This 1969 photograph shows some of the buildings (demolished in 1972) occupied by Raffles Institution (RI). Known previously as the Singapore Institution, the location of RI is where the Raffles City mall now stands. The school was founded by Sir Stamford Raffles in 1823. Seen on the left side of the photograph is probably a steeple of St Andrew's Cathedral, which is the oldest Anglican house of worship in Singapore. Date of creation estimated. Title devised by Library staff.
