This 1890s photograph shows a single-storey house in Banjoewangi (now Banyuwangi) with many potted plants near the entrance. There is an awning over a verandah with table and chairs, perhaps in preparation for a party. Two servants can be seen, one standing with drinks and one squatting on the grass. The top of the picture has faded so the flag which may have been flying from the flagpole cannot be seen. There are many trees surrounding the house. Title devised by Library staff. Date of creation estimated. Information contributed by Richard Hale.
