"Chinatown station on a Friday morning – 14 Feb, 9.40 am. Chinatown station is always swarming with people of all age groups, especially on a Friday morning. Chinatown MRT is one of the most vibrant locations of Singapore. It is a beautiful confluence of people I can say. Especially on Fridays I used to watch happily as people can be seen looking forward to their weekend as they move around - also people who look forward to finishing the tasks on hand before the weekend. It is the first ever Friday since Nov 2018 when I first came to Singapore that I saw the station when the number of people could be counted with fingers in the hands alone."--Contributed by Mrs. Rajalakshmi Rangarajan, as part of the "Documenting COVID-19 in Singapore" collection community call. This photograph shows the interior of Chinatown MRT station at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The station is almost devoid of commuters. Additional description by Library staff.
